End of an Era: The Legendary Bill Potter Retires…well sort of.
Written by WBDC on January 2, 2025
After well over 40 incredible years behind the mic, in front of the camera, and at the helm of Dubois County Broadcasting, the legendary Bill Potter is officially signing off…well sort of.
Bill has been more than just our general manager; he’s been a teacher, a mentor, and the heartbeat of this station. Whether it was troubleshooting on-air crises with a smile, launching all-out war against transmitter groundhogs, or passionately sharing the latest news with our community, Bill has done it all—and made it look easy.
For decades, he’s been the one constant in a rapidly changing industry, living and breathing radio and television like it’s his oxygen. And let’s be honest, who else could mix that much dedication with just the right amount of Monty Python references to keep us all entertained?
But let’s face it, Bill IS broadcasting. Retirement for him isn’t riding off into the sunset in a camper he struggles to back up…it’s more like stepping back into the shadows…part-time, because he knows we’d probably mess things up if he left completely.
Bill, we can’t thank you enough for your vision, your wicked humor, and your unwavering commitment to Dubois County Broadcasting. You’ve shaped not just a station, but a legacy.
Enjoy the extra time you have for camping now. We only ask that you park the camper at the transmitter site…you know…just in case.
