Lainey Wilson selected as Breakthrough Artist of the Year by CMT

Written by on October 6, 2022

What a year for Lainey Wilson! “Things A Man Oughta Know” topped the charts and claimed the ACM for Song of The Year earlier this spring. She’s got a role on the widely popular TV show Yellowstone – you can catch the premiere in just a few weeks. That’s not all! CMT named her the Breakthrough Artist of the Year and she will be honored during the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony next week.

Lainey is in great company, too. Mickey Guyton, Ashley McBryde, Kelsea Ballerini, and Chris Stapleton have previously received this honor.

Lainey says, “This past year has been a wild ride. To be considered for this award reinforces that the years of hard work my team and I have put in was all worth it. The team at CMT feels like family, and the way they genuinely support artists on their platform is so special and important for dreamers like me.”

You can catch the special on CMT on Friday, October 14, at 9/8 Central. Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, Luke Combs, Walker Hayes, and Kane Brown will also be honored as the five recipients of the Artist of the Year award. Superstar Alan Jackson will also receive the Artist of a Lifetime achievement award.

Check back soon for performers and presenters for this year’s CMT Artists of the Year.
